Diagnosed With Osteoporosis
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

Calcium Citrate is more easily absorbed by bones and taking K2 with calcium will direct it to bones, not the heart. I have stopped taking Alendronate after 2 1/2 yrs because of the potential… read more

Vitamin K2
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi! My doc has me on Boniva (from which I'm on withdrawal due to side effects) and 600iu calcium + 800iu D3 twice daily. I ALSO take a WEEKLY dose of 50,000mg vitamin D3. My Question is, what about vitamin K2? My reading suggests a need for K2 in order to direct the calcium from soft tissue to the bones. Does anyone else include K2 in their supplement regimen and, if so, how much do you take?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told to take vit D 5000 a day for Osteopenia (borderline Osteoporosis). Is it good to take
calcium also? Should I go to my regular doctor of a specialist.

Suggestions.

Fosamax: What Have Your Experiences With This Drug Been? Positive Or Negative?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

My mother took Fosamax for over 8 years and still broke her hip. I have friends who have tried the shots and still broken bones. What have you found the most effective treatment for osteoporosis? I am also trying the exercise program by Margaret Martin. I already exercise daily and this helps me focus on a program particular to osteoporosis; including tips on what not to do. I have also heard that your diet is also a factor? Has anyone found this to be true? Thanks so much.

Calcium And Vitamin D
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Calcium supplements cause constipation for me and since I have had issues with this due to a bowel obstruction surgery, as well as IBS with fibromyalgia, more of that issue I really don't need. Is there any calcium product that is less constipating? I do take 3000mg vit D and 200 mg Magnesium daily and eat a lot of calcium rich foods.
