Pain and Osteoporosis

Pain and Osteoporosis

I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?

What is the “bone stimulator” some of you have mentioned?

What is the “bone stimulator” some of you have mentioned?

I’m recovering from a stress fracture in my left femur. I had an injection of Prolia shortly before diagnosis, and was told that would slow down healing since the drug slows down bone turnover in general. Perhaps a “bone stimulator” would help?

Do compression fractures of the vertebrae really heal?

Do compression fractures of the vertebrae really heal?

I have been diagnosed with 2 compression fractures one of T7 and L4 over a year ago, T7 still causes me pain especially when I'm on my feet for extended periods of time and when I perform house cleaning jobs such as vacuuming and mopping floors. I work in retail so I have no alternative but to be on my feet for 7 to 8 hours a day. Everything I've read said they should heal within 6 to 8 weeks but I just dont that is my case. Any feed back is welcome!

What can I do to help recover from a serious fractured femur surgery that involves the hip?

What can I do to help recover from a serious fractured femur surgery that involves the hip?

I had surgery last February for a fractured femur. The fracture was close to the hip and now one leg is shorter than the other and the limping is affecting the other hip. I still have quite a bit of pain and am not experiencing getting better.

My doctor will remove the titanium when the fracture heals. That should help with the pain, which is every day.

Has Anyone Experienced Vertebral Fractures and Scoliosis?

Has Anyone Experienced Vertebral Fractures and Scoliosis?

I refused bone meds out of fear of side effects and have suffered four vertebral fractures and scoliosis. I am miserable and now my oncologist says they probably can’t be fixed by Kyphoplasty because I have discs involved. But I need an MRI and to see a neurosurgeon. I’ve been in a recliner for seven months and I feel my life is over. Can anyone relate or help me?

Hip fracture while on treatment

Hip fracture while on treatment

I had been taking Forteo injections for two years and did have an increase in my T-score, especially the hip area. Then once off for a few months for some dental work before starting Prolia, I fell and broke my hip. Now I experience anxiety, experience thigh pain when I am up for an extended period of time.

Has anyone else ever had a fracture while on treatment?

Forteo

Forteo

I fractured my femur bone, had surgery to implant titanium rods, and took a long time to recover. My diagnosis is Osteoporosis. I take Tums for calcium. I wonder why I wasn’t prescribed something like Forteo. I was told that my condition usually worsens, and I am high risk for more fractures.

Has anyone else been prescribed only Tums?

I have heard that having a Prolia injection every 6 months is not the most effective treatment for osteoporosis. Not sure what to take this.

I watched a segment on Youtube by a Doctor who claims that Prolia prevents osteoclasts from clearing away the old bone and subsequently the osteoblasts form new bone on old bones which makes them more brittle. He claims that research indicates that if this medication is take for five or more years there will be a higher risk of bone fracture.
