I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?
I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.

I have and am now on Prednisone for Crohn's disease. This is usually a short term solution, but I heard that Prednisone can affect bone health.
This is what I found when I Googled the question

Personally I take 70mg alendronate tablet 1x a week for the last year. My worse t-score is -3.3 in one of my vertebrae.
Thank you!
