When you get a bone scan, the test only evaluates your pelvic area. If my score shows serious bone loss, is it like that in my chest, leg and arm bones too.
Where I live in Canada...my dr said we only allow bone scan every 2 yrs! So after taking algaecal for a year I hope it is working well...now I have to wait...when I had my first only the left hip was… read more
My mother took Fosamax for over 8 years and still broke her hip. I have friends who have tried the shots and still broken bones. What have you found the most effective treatment for osteoporosis? I am also trying the exercise program by Margaret Martin. I already exercise daily and this helps me focus on a program particular to osteoporosis; including tips on what not to do. I have also heard that your diet is also a factor? Has anyone found this to be true? Thanks so much.
I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?
My doctor is pushing for me to go on Prolia and I'm resistant, hoping to try a more holistic approach.
Good for you HelenBeech so do I aren't those steamed ones in the bag great!?
