I got my first Evenity injections yesterday and want to decide to continue these injections or switch to another osteoporosis treatment.

Hello Jacqueline. My endocrinologist in Boston reassured me that it is the “gold standard “ for rebuilding bone. There are cardiovascular issues in a percentage of patients who may have a family history or other risk factors. Some major insurance companies may deny the medication and providers have to appeal the decision. I also understand that some people are afraid of injections. (Like Tymlos/Forteo.) Evenity is for one year and then other decisions will be made with your physician.

Hi Jacqueline- that is also what my doctor is recommending, I am considering it. What I've read so far is that it is the one drug that prevents bone loss and builds bone at the same time- I haven't decided- please do keep sharing your journey, I'm very curious how you're doing with it.

Kelly, this is interesting. My doc wants me to go on Tymlos but I am apprehensive. This is due to a prior boxed warning about bone cancer. This is still listed as a potential side effect but my doc says that noone who has been on Tymlos has ever contracted bone cancer. I am on nothing except except Vit D, Calcium and collagen powder. I just got another bone density study and my hips got better but my spine got worse. just do not know what to do!!

I have had three highly rated medical doctors recommend Evenity shots monthly for a year to build up my bones. I have had only the first month injections so can’t say it’s working .

I had never heard of the cardiovascular issues with Evenity! I have a family history of heart disease.
