Hi Pam,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I haven't read the article yet, although, as I recall, the mortality rate for people who consume over 1,300 mg of calcium had an increased mortality rate from all causes. My diet has many hidden sources of calcium, so I'm trying to walk the fine line between 1,200 and 1,300 mg.

Regarding vitamin D, I reduced my dosage from 2,000 iu to 1,000 iu after I read a study that correlated high vitamin D levels to different types of cancer. My endocrinologist wanted me to stay at 2,000 iu, and I wanted to take 800 iu, so I compromised. :)

If you're interested, I can look for the supporting data.

I’ve been struggling with the right amount of daily calcium to take. My levels were normal, too high, too low. Very frustrating it took a month of working with the osteoporosis clinic to determine the amount that was right for me..

The best way to figure out how much vitamin D you need to take is by monitoring your levels with blood tests periodically.
