Members shared encouraging experiences with Tymlos, a daily self-injection bone-building medication, with several reporting significant bone density improvements after 18 months of treatment despite initial concerns about daily injections and cost. Many members described manageable side effects including a temporary racing heart (lasting about 30 minutes), mild headaches, and occasional joint aches, with practical tips like injecting before bed to sleep through symptoms and checking for patient assistance programs to reduce the financial burden. A recurring theme was the importance of following up with maintenance medications like Prolia or Reclast after completing Tymlos treatment to preserve bone density gains.

I have not heard of this drug, but I will ask my Dr. I took for Forteo for two years and it did absolutely nothing for me! I just took my first shot a Prolia and I’m not sure what that’s doing I don’t go back until May but I do know one thing I am extremely tired all the time sit down and fall asleep couple times a day! I don’t know if it’s from the med or I’m just getting old and Macy LOL

Hi Robin,
I'm so glad your Tymlos injections are going well. At the end of my 18 months, I had minor aches in my shins, but nothing serious. And it went away after I finished my treatment. Note: At 73, I always have body/joint aches that come and go, whether I'm on Tymlos or not. :) And I'm glad you got into a program that pays for it. I tried the ones my Dr. recommended, but either I wasn't eligible or the program was full.

Spring has definitely arrived in Nebraska. It is sunny and lovely here today. Take care and I'm hoping you have good results. Pat

Hi Pat,
Well, I've been on the Tymlos for a little over 2 weeks now. Giving the injection right before I go to bed has been no big deal. I do get a little increase in heart rate and got a mild headache 2 hours after for a couple of days. Otherwise it seems to be going OK. I've read that some people get body/joint aches, did you have any of that?

I really don't like to be on ANY kind of medication but after all my efforts (I'm 72) my spine DEXA was -3 so I feel I've exhausted my other opinions. Drat! Guess we all want our bodies to keep going without age related decline...thank goodness that there are meds to hopefully help! Oh, and the really good news is that I was able to get the Tymlos on a St. Luke's assist program and it's not costing my anything! I will have to reapply for assistance in Jan 2024 but the process was very quick and easy.

Thanks so much for keeping in touch. You are the only person I know that has been on this medication. Hope its sunny and spring-like where you live :) Take care! Robin

Hooray, I’m on day 3 of Tymlos! So far my only side effect is a little headache 1 hr after the injection-hope that continues! Again, thank you so much for your words of experience & kind wishes! Hope my results are as good as yours have been 👍 Keep in touch, Robin
