Unusual Problem At Night

Unusual Problem At Night

My left night has started giving me a lot of trouble recently. After having an X-ray I was told there is ‘significant arthritic damage ‘ to my knee. I have been given anti-inflammatories and Tramacet for the pain but it’s not helping much. Also when I go to bed at night or try to lay down during the day I have to sit up. My knee and my whole leg hurt like mad if I lay down on either side. When I sit up it’s not nearly as bad. I have no idea what’s causing this or what to do about it.… read more

@A MyOsteoTeam Member greetings from the Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia.
I believe you when you say that you find it hard to lie down. My body is riddled with Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis plus Scoliosis to my spine.
1. My physiotherapist said: Try putting a soft cushion between your knees when you lie down.
2. Ask your doctor about Amitriptyline tablet before bed.
It's an antidepressant but it also relaxes my whole system and l am enjoying life more now since I started taking it 25mg first time was enough to zonk me out and l had over 8 hours straight sleep ! Wow😆. She gave me 10mg and that is usually enough to get 7 hours of deep sleep each night. Amitriptyline tablet is a less addictive option to sleeping tablets and Valium type of medications.

You can also buy moulded foam to put between thighs at night. I used one before I had an arthroscope and clean up of knee. Eased the pain. May be worth seeing a physio.

It’s not fun when I realize so many people have this problem. I have not logged in for quite some time as I didn’t really want to talk about it. But now I’m seeing that there is help out there from ordinary people like me.
So I’ve had xrays, ultrasound and an MRI on both knees. My right knee has started bothering me a lot as I now have to use it more for climbing stairs etc. I went to see a surgeon who was very nice and he said my knees are a mess inside and he is going do a hyalironic (sp) injection in my left knee. I had that done in early Dec. my knees were starting to very slowly show one improvement until I did something stupid. I tried to pick up my dog. He’s old and he went down and I was trying to help him get up but he’s 200lbs so all I did was hurt my knees. Now they are both really painful
It’s difficult to walk most days. I don’t know what I did but I’m going to see the surgeon again on Feb 4th so maybe he can help.
Thank you for your support. ❤️
