I just had my second bone density and was advised two sites are improved, but my left forearm worsened considerably. Is that normal?

I just had my second bone density and was advised two sites are improved, but my left forearm worsened considerably. Is that normal?

I have seen an arthritis/osteoporosis specialist regarding my diagnosis. Because I have osteoarthritis also, affecting my knees, left elbow, and especially my hands, the doctors primary focus was decreasing inflammation so calcium is not pulled from my bones to combat this. I have followed their directions as good as I can as far as taking the supplements they suggest (fish oil,… read more

I’m looking for feedback regarding medications: Forteo/Tymlos, Prolia or Reclast.

I’m looking for feedback regarding medications: Forteo/Tymlos, Prolia or Reclast.

I’ve had multiple prophylactic surgeries to prevent cancer (family history is strong).
I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis which my doctor considers “severe”, especially for my age (45).
She is recommending I begin Forteo/Tymlos, Prolia or Reclast in that order (she feels oral meds are second to injection/infusion due to absorption).
I’m concerned about cancer risk (although the doc says there is no concern for humans)… read more

Unusual problem at night

Unusual problem at night

My left night has started giving me a lot of trouble recently. After having an X-ray I was told there is ‘significant arthritic damage ‘ to my knee. I have been given anti-inflammatories and Tramacet for the pain but it’s not helping much. Also when I go to bed at night or try to lay down during the day I have to sit up. My knee and my whole leg hurt like mad if I lay down on either side. When I sit up it’s not nearly as bad. I have no idea what’s causing this or what to do about it.… read more

Does anyone have any proof that medications improve spinal bone density or strength?

Does anyone have any proof that medications improve spinal bone density or strength?

Have a Dexa T score of -4.2 Two spinal compression fractures plus a more recent wrist break where the end of the arm bone has crumbled away. Also one shoulder joint has been taken out because damage was so bad.

I believe long term use of asthma medications have largely contributed to my osteoporosis. I'm sensitive to medication, am unconvinced from what I have read that medication increases bone density or strength in the spine.… read more
