I have been taking generic Fosamax 70mg. going on 3 years recently my dentist said suggested I should stop taking it. My last test showed I now have Osteopenia. My doctor said to continue with it. Can anyone tell me how long they have been on it. I am worried ablut it's side effects. Thank you!
I’ve had multiple prophylactic surgeries to prevent cancer (family history is strong).
I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis which my doctor considers “severe”, especially for my age (45).
She is recommending I begin Forteo/Tymlos, Prolia or Reclast in that order (she feels oral meds are second to injection/infusion due to absorption).

My left night has started giving me a lot of trouble recently. After having an X-ray I was told there is ‘significant arthritic damage ‘ to my knee. I have been given anti-inflammatories and Tramacet for the pain but it’s not helping much. Also when I go to bed at night or try to lay down during the day I have to sit up. Have a Dexa T score of -4.2 Two spinal compression fractures plus a more recent wrist break where the end of the arm bone has crumbled away. Also one shoulder joint has been taken out because damage was so bad.
I believe long term use of asthma medications have largely contributed to my osteoporosis. I'm sensitive to medication, am unconvinced from what I have read that medication increases bone density or strength in the spine.… read more
