My belly is sticking out and I feel shorter than I used to be. Have been diagnosed with osteoporotic vertebral fracture and
multilevel acute osteoporotic compression fractures in the lower and lumbar spine, I really know very little about osteoporosis, take calcium tablet Adcal and vitamin D3 now and once a week Alendronic Acid. I don't know whether this is all I can do or whether I should push my GP to see another specialist. I have asked for the Alendronic Acid to be changed to an infusion and… read more

I believe that the osteoporosis meds contribute to sore gums and teeth.
I have osteopenia of more than 10 years duration. My MD would like me to take Fosamax. I have bad teeth--I receive regular dental care and floss and brush with prescription strength fluoride toothpaste like I'm supposed to, but I have numerous crowns/fillings, 4 implants, I've had several root canals and broken teeth. I'm wondering what besides Prolia or biphosphanates I could take. I am afraid of osteonecrosis of the jaw--I'm also afraid of breaking a hip. I take calcium and Vit D supplements… read more

I started Prolia two years ago because Actonel wasn’t working. I now have recurring sciatica, which is a side effect of Prolia. A year ago I got cortisone injection for pain.
I also take medicine for acid reflux which counteracts bone density medicine.
I have just discontinued my prolia twice a year injections because of the sixe effects..Insomnia, very itchy skin, unable to walk very far. Am hoping this will end soon
I started this med on 10/11/2020and have had headaches since almost every day!
During an endoscopy recently I was found to have a large hiatus hernia. That explains my acid reflux and heartburn! I’m now on 30 mg a day of Lanzaprozole which is helping a bit.
Having been recently diagnosed with osteoporosis i have been perscribed alendronic acid but to be honest im too scared to try after reading side effects espicially the effects of painful jpints already in a,world of pain now how comman are the side effects

It sounds like she will look at an individual's test results, review tests that have been done, discuss others that could be done, and provide insight and recommendations based on a person's unique situation. I am tempted to do this because I would like an expert's viewpoint on whether… read more

It’s improved my bone density somewhat and the Endocrinologist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital was pleased that my Lumbar spine is now Osteopinea, wrists and hips are not so good.
I am concerned about the stomach bloating and constipation of my bowel.
My question is does Aledronic Acid +Caliciferol with Vitamin D (Fonat Plus) cause gum ulceration and pain as this is an ongoing problem. Could it be the Acid component?
