A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told to take vit D 5000 a day for Osteopenia (borderline Osteoporosis). Is it good to take
calcium also? Should I go to my regular doctor of a specialist.

Suggestions.

thank you,

Good Morning Everyone. I Hope You Are All Well. Anyone Have Any Experience, Taking Fosamax? I Am Due To Start It Due To Bad Scan Readings?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have osteoporosis for several years and have been putting off taking any meds as I am scared with all the reported side effects. I was sent to a rheumatologist and he says I am at risk for fracture as my scan readings are at critical levels and I must take something. He suggests Fosamax to start. I know I have no choice and am very worried but he explained my probability of having a fracture is much greater than any side effects I take calcium and Vitamin D. I appreciate any insight all… read more

Calcium And Vitamin D
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Calcium supplements cause constipation for me and since I have had issues with this due to a bowel obstruction surgery, as well as IBS with fibromyalgia, more of that issue I really don't need. Is there any calcium product that is less constipating? I do take 3000mg vit D and 200 mg Magnesium daily and eat a lot of calcium rich foods.

The best way to figure out how much vitamin D you need to take is by monitoring your levels with blood tests periodically.

What Is Your Favourite Calcium (and Supporting Vitamins And Minerals) And Why?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been taking Algaecal (the non mail order one, so no strontium). And then Vitamin K in my Vitamin D. But I've been thinking of trying calcium citrate alongside Lorna Vanderhaeghe's Bone Booster. I do suffer from constipation so not sure if I can handle the calcium citrate or not.

Many thanks,
Wendy
