Thank you so much Hyegirl!
Hi Diane. I am here to give you a report on Reclast. Yesterday I had my third (and final) infusion. My first infusion was in 2024. At that time I was not told that I needed to drink a lot of water and take Tylenol before the infusion. my second infusion did go much better once I followed that advice. Earlier this year I had a DEXA scan, and there was, in fact, improvement. This drug is far superior to either Fosamax, Actonel, or even Prolia, which I was previously on. Ordering my third infusion, as far as the doctor was concerned, “sealed the deal”. I was told by my doctor, that the third one would be the last. I have had very few side effects. My spine went from -2.5 to -1.8.
Good luck.
Hi Maureen,
Thank you so much. I did go to Lisa Ceglia MD at Tufts , but I have MGB insurance and it is much more affordable to stay in network. All endo’s , and PCP recommending medication . Dr Ceglia said take medication only if I want to, and not everyone w osteoporosis fractures. She mainly had me meet w her Fellows and medical students. So hard for me to decide. MGB endo is a young man and means well, annoyed / concerned w my reluctance to take medication. F/u bone density next month🤞
Hello Diane. I live in Dracut Ma. and am followed by a wonderful endocrinologist at Tufts. I had to retire from nursing in 2017 due to 2 spinal compression fractures and degenerative disc disease in spine. My medication journey began in 2012 with Forteo for 2 years. I then had 2 Reclast infusions (once a year) . After my third lumbar fracture required kyphplasty, I retired. Could barely walk at the time. Lost 5.5 inches from age 50-59. Now entering my 10th year of Prolia injections. Now 68 and despite falling a few times, no more fractures. It’s very scary taking any of these medications. I can tell you that based on everything I know and have learned from others, lifting patients, heavy housework etc.,is going to catch up with you. My T-scores were never bad but I had hereditary disease . Medications for GERD and Asthma didn’t help. I hope you can feel confident in whatever decisions you make.
