Finding a local specialist is such an important step in managing osteoporosis well! Unfortunately, recommending specific physicians in New Jersey isn't something that can be done here, but there are some great ways to find the right specialist.
Several types of doctors are well-equipped to treat osteoporosis:
- Endocrinologists β hormone specialists
- Rheumatologists β joint and bone specialists
- Orthopedists β bone and musculoskeletal specialists
- Gynecologists β especially helpful for postmenopausal bone loss
- Geriatricians β specialists in older adult care
A good starting point is asking your primary care doctor for a referral to one of these specialists. You can also use the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation's provider locator at bhof.org to search for specialists near you.
