Hello Hexandu. I see you are receiving Reclast infusions. Did your GP initiate that medication because you were high risk or already had fractures? What were you told about why you were getting the medication? I started out with my GP , pain clinic and physiatrist who knew they were not experts in the treatment of OP and fractures. I am fortunate to work with a great endocrinologist in Boston.

I have a Endocrinologist for the past 5 years, I have blood tests done every year
unless there is a problem. Taking magnesium and potassium, every 2 years a bone density. 7 years ago I had a fracture of the femur which let to 2 operations. I have a titanium rod from the knee up and hinged to Mr pelvis. Finally under her direction the Government kicked in and I took daily injections for 2 years. I have a bone density August 26th. I can’t wait for it to see if the medications worked Forteo is the the name of the drug. All the best to you. You have a big decision to make. Hugs 🥰 Barbara

If you have a General Practitioner and nobody recommends an Endocrinologistthen stick with it. If your osteoporosis gets worse and you get fractures, it may be time to get injections and your Dr. will refer you. Bone and Rheumatology is what the office is called.

You are entitled to request to see a specialist and your GP has to refer you. You don’t need to give up your GP.
