I Have Been On Tymlos For A Year Now With Another Year To Go. Has Anyone Else Had Experience/results With This Medication?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Like many, I tried everything to improve or stabilize my bone density but finally had to accept the fact that I needed to take some medication.

Thank you so much for your personal & informative reply! This whole osteoporosis thing is a real tough one isn’t it? I feel the same way about Reclast-very scared of a bad reaction & since it is a bisphosphonate there are all the dental concerns. Thank you for the suggestion of hormone therapy. I’ve just turned 73 & I so want my bones to keep me active . Best of luck to you too and thanks again!

We haven’t gone into detail about what’s next, however, Reclast was mentioned at my last appt. I do not want to be on a medication that is administered once every 6 months because if severe side effects occur, I have to deal with them for that period of time. My cardiologist wants me on bioidentical hormones because I am severely lacking and believes they will have a positive affect on my bones. I am considering that route for awhile and am doing extensive research on them. I am going to be 72 next week, but my cardiologist is very experienced in hormone replacement and feels they will have a positive effect on my body. No other osteo treatments I have researched sounds like a positive alternative. I don’t like the sound of rebound effects of Prolia, and bisphosphonate drugs will likely make my digestive issues worse. So, as I did with Tymlos prior to taking it, I’ll pray, research and then make a decision. This is a tough one for me. I don’t want to lose my gains, that’s for sure. This is not an easy journey for us…we need to be proactive and knowledgeable before we just jump into a course of meds. I pray you find the right course of treatment that you feel comfortable with. Thank you for your response! I’m very glad that Tymlos was effective in increasing your spinal bone density! My Dr. wants to put me on Reclast when I have completed the 2 yrs on Tymlos to maintain any gains I make. Is this what your Dr is recommending too? Thanks again!

I have been on Tymlos since June of 22 and go off in a couple months. My scores improved in my spine by 11%, not much change in my hips. My numbers were pretty bad…-4.7 in my spine so I’m happy with the result. My last scan was in Nov so hoping for more improvement by June.
