A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

My dentist told me I should have a tooth extracted but I heard it is not safe with osteoporosis.

I have had two need pulled (they broke while I was taking Prolia and had to be pulled . My dentist was ver careful and I had no problems though I was scared of what could happen. I also have had several old caps removed and replaced while taking Zometa. My cancer doctor usually has me have the dental work done shortly before time for my next infusion and waits until the work is completed before doing the next infusion. Talk to your doctor in charge of your osteoporosis treatment and let him advise you.

No dentist I have seen will work on my teeth if I take an osteoporosis drug. The jaw can become very fragile.

I walk 3 miles every day, take calcium, magnesium, vit D and K

My dentist will work on my teeth, but I can't have a tooth pulled because I take Boniva.
