Springfield, IL

What age do they start doing Bone Density test on ladies.
I am 81 and have been having Bone Density test since I was in my 50’s.
My daughter (54 yr old) was told today they do not start Bone Density test until 65 yr old.
Please reply.

I had my first BD MRI in my 30’s as I had a total hysterectomy in my 20’s and had a wedge fracture in my spine.
I have been having 2 yearly bone density tests in Queensland for the past 25 years.
Where does your daughter live?
If I may suggest if in Australia it will be because Medicare possibly will not cover the costs until that age they are recommending.
You can ask for your GP to refer for a “ private” Bone Density test which your daughter will need to pay for to ascertain her Bone Density.
Once this is established her GP can then push some boundaries with Medicare ( If in Australia).
