Can Osteoporosis Affect The Teeth?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since my diagnosis, I have had loose teeth and I have lost some teeth. Does this have to do with osteoporosis or is it something else>

As someone with arthritis I go to the dentist every three months. They do check to see whether there is an issue with my jaw and measure my gums. Thankfully I have insurance that covers 80% of the cost. I lost a tooth using a whitener so I don’t do that anymore. I do cut my apples before eating because I like to eat cheese with every piece of apple. I do have to share the cheese with my dog.

I was told over 30 years ago that the bone that holds my teeth in was slowly disappearing. But nothing was ever said about osteoporosis. I've had full dentures for over 20 years now

I would have to admit that osteoporosis does cause problems with our teeth I broke a front tooth just eating an orange....I declined an implant as my friend had great problems having this dental surgery Regular Dental check ups are a must I believe Good Luck

Since I have osteoporosis, I have learned how important it is to take really good care of my teeth. When I am at home, I floss "and" brush after "every" meal or snack. I use a water pick every night before I go to bed. I keep a gallon jug (with a pump) of mouthwash diluted with some water and use it throughout the day and even when I wake up at night to pee. I get my teeth cleaned 3 times a year.
I have been telling my dentist for the last 10 years that I want to die with these teeth in my mouth. He just laughs.
