In U.S. normal time for bone scan is every 2 years. However I was diagnosed in July 2021. I called my medical plan & was told Dr could request in one year for scan. That's what I hope cause at 75 I don't want to wait 2 years to see if improvement or not. I'm doing natural not on OP med currently.
I have non working thyroid so ck that & Dr wants to see if giving me right dose of vit. D. As well as ck some other things. So far I get blood work every 3 months. Remember other countries do some med things differently. I do not pay $35 for vit D test - it is taken care of thru my medical advantage plan.
Best wishes on everything. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผ

@A MyOsteoTeam Member hello to you and I am a Scorpio too 1st November 1941.

Yes itโ€™s every 2 years for. Bone Density tests. In Australia if you want one earlier this is an out of pocket expense for us. Personally speaking about the Bone Density test I donโ€™t believe I am fully diagnosed as itโ€™s not covering the whole spine just Lumbar spine, hips and wrists. You can check about having a full body scan from your toes to your neck as I had one many years ago.

Also I have Osteoporosis in my Thoracic spine area which went undiagnosed between 2014 -2017 when it showed up in the hospital XRays when I was ill in the Respiratory Ward for 8 days with Pneumonia (including a few days in isolation until the results of a nose swab showed that I was not infectious) 5 respiratory people including a specialist eventually diagnosed me having Pneumonia COP which filled my lungs and airways with inflammation. I was told that it was possibly from inhaling a Mould Spore. I spent 8 days in hospital and I was sent home alone on strong steroids Prednisone double dose initially and Opioids which sent my system haywire and I had several heavy falls.

Also it took me from May/June until December to finally get the inflammation from my lungs etc.

Hugs from Judyxx
