I have seen in many posts going to an endocrinologist. Is this to treat osteoporosis? My internist is treating me now. Should I be seeing a endocrinologist for my osteoporosis? I also have Hashimotos disease. My thyroid is nothing more than fibrous tissue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.😊

Members discussed which type of doctor is best for treating osteoporosis, with many recommending endocrinologists, especially for those who also have Hashimoto's disease, since they specialize in both conditions. Several members shared their experiences with rheumatologists, noting that while they may recommend treatments like annual Reclast infusions, some preferred to try natural approaches first, including calcium, magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K supplements. A recurring theme was the challenge of deciding how long to pursue natural methods before considering medication, balanced with the constant worry of managing osteoporosis alongside other health issues.

I see an endocrinologist because I have hoshimotos!! It’s more their specialty and now for my osteoporosis as well. If you have more than just hypo or hyperthyroidism, like hoshimotos, it is better I feel to see an endocrinologist.

I agree, although I am new to all of this, I feel for all who are dealing with Osteoporosis on top of everything else we all deal with. I also take calcium and D. Thank you for your help. Stay well 😀

I take calcium, magnesium, & D and K. But I wonder how long to do it instead of the meds before I throw in the towel!! Already been couple years now that I was diagnosed. It’s a constant worry along with life’s other problems LOL
