Alendronate Or Alendronic Acid

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Minyama Sunshine Coast

It’s improved my bone density somewhat and the Endocrinologist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital was pleased that my Lumbar spine is now Osteopinea, wrists and hips are not so good.
I am concerned about the stomach bloating and constipation of my bowel.
My question is does Aledronic Acid +Caliciferol with Vitamin D (Fonat Plus) cause gum ulceration and pain as this is an ongoing problem. Could it be the Acid component?

Members shared experiences with alendronate and related bone density medications, with most reporting few or no side effects like gum ulcers, though several mentioned dealing with bloating, constipation, and digestive issues that may or may not be medication-related. Many members offered practical suggestions for managing these concerns, including probiotics like Align or Actimel, gluten-free diets, lemon water with chia seeds, cranberry tablets for kidney health, and specific cereals like Kellogg's Guardian, while strongly encouraging consultation with doctors or specialists for persistent symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of staying active despite pain, celebrating personal victories like improved bone density or weight loss, and finding comfort in sharing struggles and support within a community that truly understands the daily challenges of living with chronic conditions.

Birdlady, Judy I agree with all of the above comments. There is a Kellogg’s cereal called Guardian which one of our Gastro chaps always advised his patients to eat. It worked very well. Hope you are feeling better 😊

I am trialling gluten free because I also get tum pain and bloating. I have researched how gluten causes inflammation particularly in the gut which is what all arthritis is including Osteo. Plus of course my trusty StemEnhance Ultra to renew my stem cells. So far all life changing and all symptoms have gone. Plus no drugs.. all natural. Happy to chat further if anyone wants to know more.

Here’s a short video explaining the effect gluten has on our system.

I am taking both and I had only at the beginnen ulcers in my mouth.
For the bloating and constipation, I have been drinking a class of lemon water before bedtime with chia seed. I Soak the chia seeds for about 1 hour in the lemon water.
I hope it will help you too 🤞🏻
