Ty! I am going to wait longer before trying prolia. I haven't been exercising much so I just got a trainer who works with osteo..I'm hoping getting on a regular exercise program will help. If no improvement by next scan I will consider tbe meds again.
My Endo Dr wanted me to get these shots, and I said No.
Prolia hinders a protein called Rankl from allowing certain immune cells to be converted into osteoclasts, the cells that remove old bone to make room for new bone. When old bone cells build up, a bone scan may show increased density, but dense bone made up of worn-out bone cells is a recipe for a fracture. I.e. weaker bone.
Prolia did nothing for me but others swear by it. Rheumatologist stopped it and now I have yearly Aclasta infusions which seem to be working. ๐
Evelyn good to see you on here! Was wondering how you are. Hugs
