I have degenerative osteoarthritis of my Lower spine which has caused sciatica to my right leg , the pain is unbearable especially in the mornings, I’ve tried stretches and am quite active but it seems that after I relax the pain gets worse , it’s been going on for 5 months now sometimes it wakes me up during the night

Members responded to a question about treating sciatica from degenerative osteoarthritis by sharing a wide range of personal experiences with treatments that provided varying levels of relief. Several members found success with epidural steroid injections (lasting weeks to months), nerve ablation procedures (which many highly recommended), acupuncture, gabapentin or Horizant for nerve pain, physical therapy, heat therapy, hemp or CBD products, stem cell injections, and devices like the Lo-Bak Trax or tennis ball myofascial release techniques. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy when doctors dismiss pain as simply part of aging, the value of pain management specialists over general practitioners, and the reality that finding relief often requires trying multiple approaches while balancing concerns about medication side effects, addiction risks, and the impact of long-term steroid use on bone health.

I had a Dr - every problem I told her about she said - part of getting old. I started searching for a new Dr. I don't believe we have to keep suffering with no hope or lack of treatment or research from our Dr. It was turning into a type of torture. My former Dr should be ashamed of herself. I now have a good Dr.& I'm grateful. I hope u find relief from your horrible pain. I have been to a spine & pain management Dr & he helped a great deal with my osteoarthritis. Hugs & blessings. 🌺

The nerve ablation is awesome..i had one in neck several years ago...took away the pain
I am recovering from 5 compression fractures in my back and have a lot of pain..they a re going to do diagnostic nerve blocks to determine exactly which nerve are causing the pain and then they will the the ablation
I would recommend it to anyone
I see a pain management doc for this

I’ve had sciatica. The only thing that helped was steroids. It literally took the pain away, the only thing is, you can’t stay on them
