Does anyone have any experience taking EVISTA? My doctor has suggested this as an alternative to Bisphosphonates as I had concerns about the side effects with those drugs. Curious any experiences anyone has had (positive or negative) - in particular any side effects, negative reactions, etc. Any information would be welcome and helpful.

Thank You!

Members shared mixed experiences with Evista for osteoporosis treatment, with several reporting no side effects beyond occasional hot flashes and stable or improved bone density, while others described more serious complications including eye vein occlusion and continued fractures despite years of use. Many members expressed deep distrust of pharmaceutical companies and osteoporosis medications in general, citing concerns about side effects that can significantly impact quality of life, with some choosing alternative approaches through diet, exercise, and supplements instead. A recurring theme was the difficult decision between accepting potential medication risks versus managing a progressive disease, with members emphasizing the importance of researching options thoroughly, monitoring results closely, and making choices based on individual circumstances and severity of bone loss.

I was on Evista while taking steroids for PMR. When I had a bone scan I was told my bones were stronger than average for my age. Evista was then stopped by the hospital, Ad CalD3 continued, but unknown to me, I then developed Osteoporosis and found out when I got a T12 fracture!
Only side effect of Evista was occasional hot flushes.

Me too!! 50 percent of all women have this disease. That's a lot of money to be made!! Why would I take something that's going to make me feel worse.

I have done some research on alternatives to the drugs that usually subscribed and there is no way I would take any of of the big pharma drugs. Most studies are paid for by these pharmacutical companies to say what they want. I am going with other ways with diet exercise and supplements.
