I've used it for 6 years..no side effects. Had been prescribed fosamax and HRT initially. The HRT worked like magic and the fosamax kept me stable, but had to stop it after 5 years. I then googled and discovered algae cal. After initial T scores at diagnosis of -3.5 in my spine, have now T score of 0.2. My hips aren't as good but upto -1.2 which is technically osteopenia. However my last two dexascans done on algaecal alone showed a spinal improvement of 8% and 5% in my hips.
It's expensive compared with store bought calcium, but results are guaranteed. I now buy a year at a time for the discount and view it as the equivalent of a cafe coffee a day. Absolutely no regrets at all.
Good luck !

Yes, I am taking 4 AlgaeCal supplements a day; I am having trouble with the Strontium they recommend with it. I may be able to take it in small amts. They have a great online support blog community; http://AlgaeCal.com - MANY people have had Great results from using this. Also, you might want to google Jarrows.Bone Up supplement; this also has great results for bone growth. One more site- Better bones.com also great feedback. Good luck

Carol, I also off and on; Cissus Quadrangularis by Barlow’s Herbal Elixiris, This is an Indian Herb that my dentist to,d me about(he is from India) The Indians are known for natural remedies, like Tumeric. I think I paid $18 for 60 capsules. I bought it from their site in FL.

When I looked up the info; The plant is commonly known as bone setter because of its ability to join bones. The latest study shows that Cissus directly helps bone marrow make the bone building cells known as osteoblasts, as well as directly promote the formation of calcium matrix (new bone).

I figured it was worth a try.

Good luck!

I think we need to be our own health advocates, be proactive for ourselves, and research and research.

Just started algeacal. Wanted to go natural rather than take Tymlos or Forteo.. Time will tell if it actually works for me.
