Prolia DISASTER
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'd been on Prolia a few years. Wasn't getting better but at least not getting worse
Then doctor retired and new doctor couldn't see me right away
I said I was supposed to get this shot every six months but they said I had to wait for the new doctor.
WEEKS after she told me this, THREE VERTEBRAE FRACTURED!
I have been in pain every single day ever since!
I got the shot however, and now I still have to be on Prolia!
Here is what I have as a result, IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE FRACTURES… read more

The answer? I DON'T KNOW!! The doctors are telling me the same thing -- that I've been on Prolia long enough. And as noted before, Prolia even threatens my eyesight! But I'm afraid that… read more

Alendronate Or Alendronic Acid
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

It’s improved my bone density somewhat and the Endocrinologist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital was pleased that my Lumbar spine is now Osteopinea, wrists and hips are not so good.
I am concerned about the stomach bloating and constipation of my bowel.
My question is does Aledronic Acid +Caliciferol with Vitamin D (Fonat Plus) cause gum ulceration and pain as this is an ongoing problem. Could it be the Acid component?

A MyOsteoTeam Member

@A MyOsteoTeam Member yes you are correct! I try to keep positive and not to talk about my pain.

However it’s lovely to belong to a group like this where we can get some comfort from Ione another… read more

Pain And Osteoporosis
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?

Prolia And High LDL Cholesterol
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone on Prolia experienced a significant increase in their LDL numbers? I have always had high cholesterol and was unable to tolerate statins. My cholesterol numbers increased over and above what was already not good after two months on Prolia. The endocrinologist was surprised at this rapid increase and in his report to my family doctor said, "maybe it is caused by Prolia". I am now on Repatha, (another biologic manufactured by Amgen) to lower my cholesterol. I needed to deal with my… read more

Is Anyone Managing Your Condition Without Medication And Instead Using Natural Supplements Such As Calcium, Vitamin D, Etc?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’m afraid of becoming medicated and their side effects, so use a Bone supplement providing Vitamin D, K2, magnesium, etc. Plus upping my daily dietary calcium and minerals, gentle exercising daily. So far so good and just take two Ibuprofen in the morning to allow me to move more freely.

A MyOsteoTeam Member

So far no drugs, but I don't know how my bones are looking right now without another scan. I'm not having any issues at this point though and just trying to be careful.

Does Anyone Else Have Lower Back Pain?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

There are times that I haven’t done anything and right across my lower back hurts awful. If I vacuum the house I can only do a small area before the pain is terrible and I have to stop.

Denise, thanks for the info on magnesium. I was unaware of that
