I Just Had My Second Bone Density And Was Advised Two Sites Are Improved, But My Left Forearm Worsened Considerably. Is That Normal?

I have seen an arthritis/osteoporosis specialist regarding my diagnosis. Because I have osteoarthritis also, affecting my knees, left elbow, and especially my hands, the doctors primary focus was decreasing inflammation so calcium is not pulled from my bones to combat this. I have followed their directions as good as I can as far as taking the supplements they suggest (fish oil,… read more

What Form Of Exercise Can I Take

What Form Of Exercise Can I Take

I'm afraid of doing anything except walking and swimming for fear of hurting myself, but I get bored with these. My osteoporosis is mild in my spine and moderate in my hips. I've had two crush fractures. My back can be extremely painful. I've tried Pilates and yoga, but some of the excersises really hurt my upper back, so I end up not doing anything! I used to love cycling, but I've lost all my confidence and can't balance anymore as I'm so scared of falling off.

I would suggest physical therapy since you’ve had fractures. Have you tried chair yoga? Hope you find a way!

Ribs Sit Inside Of Hips

Ribs Sit Inside Of Hips

Since my 5 endplate fractures my spine has shrunk and now my ribs sit inside my hips when I’m on my feet or sitting when I lay down I seem to stretch out a bit I have a small gap between them. It can cause discomfort, vacuuming is the worst ,it becomes quite painful. Is there any treatment for this does any one know. I would see older people with long legs and rather short bodies and hoped I would never end up like this never realising this is what caused it. I used to be 5ft 9 now I am… read more

I Have Heard That Having A Prolia Injection Every 6 Months Is Not The Most Effective Treatment For Osteoporosis. Not Sure What To Take This.

I Have Heard That Having A Prolia Injection Every 6 Months Is Not The Most Effective Treatment For Osteoporosis. Not Sure What To Take This.

I watched a segment on Youtube by a Doctor who claims that Prolia prevents osteoclasts from clearing away the old bone and subsequently the osteoblasts form new bone on old bones which makes them more brittle. He claims that research indicates that if this medication is take for five or more years there will be a higher risk of bone fracture.

I heard this, too, re Prolia, if one has the injections 5 years. How the osteoclasts are not cleared away and so the osteoblasts then build on old,… read more

Forteo--Teriparatide - Should I Or Should I Not-questioning The Drug? Wondering About The Bone Cancer.

I am 56. Osteoporosis runs in the family. I was diagnosed two years ago at the age of 54 with a T-Scan of -3.3 in the lower spine. I tried Fosmax and everything hurt and jumped off after a few months. At that time I discovered a wonderful gym here in Florida that has a bone building program. My T-Scan has remained the same after two years of working out and a change of diet. However, my doctor (and this is the… read more

Forteo

Forteo

I fractured my femur bone, had surgery to implant titanium rods, and took a long time to recover. My diagnosis is Osteoporosis. I take Tums for calcium. I wonder why I wasn’t prescribed something like Forteo. I was told that my condition usually worsens, and I am high risk for more fractures.

Has anyone else been prescribed only Tums?

Awaiting your answer in 6 weeks. I must admit, I have rarely found natural or homeopathic remedies effective.
