I would hesitate as it is difficult to stop. You will lose bone very fast when stopping and another drug has to be started. I would be careful going on it. Read the side effects carefully.
I was very reluctant to take it and believed I could manage things with diet and exercise. Then I also had a cascade of spinal compression, two months virtually bed-bound and decided the Prolia couldn't be worse. I've now been on Prolia 18 months and no major side effects - and no new fractures. It may be contributing to my low platelets but hard to know.
Hello Catalina2. I am in my 7th year of Prolia. I have been fortunate so far. I had 2 spinal fractures 10+ years ago and lost 5 inches of height. I live outside of Boston and have a great endocrinologist. Genetics and medication can increase our risk of OP. Best of luck in your decisions going forward.
Congratulations! I’m very glad it is working for you. Thank you for letting me know because I’m a little concerned about starting the treatment and its side effects.
