I have read about all of the medications, and they all sound terrible and dangerous. I cannot take AlgeCal because of calcium issues. I know I have to take something, but I am scared. Any suggestions or experiences are appreciated.

So far, i have been taking osteobone supplements and VIT D plus upper body weights, walking with backpack with some books inside. My good friend is having great resukts with PROLIA so if i need to next year, i will try PROLIA injections too.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your condition! It is very scary for sure. I too was diagnosed last year at age 57, and my spine was at -4.3. My doctor also wanted me to start on meds - he felt I needed Prolia injections. I didn't go that route and am trying to go the AlgaeCal route along with diet and exercise. Not sure what your calcium issues are that prohibits you from taking AlgaeCal...
Keep doing research and find out what you can do that will have the best outcome with the least problems. I don't know if I will get a Dexa scan this year to see how I'm doing (they say they only allow one every 2 years through insurance), but I'm hoping I can at the very least prevent any further decline in my bone loss. There are many good bone strengthening exercise programs out there that can also help you strengthen your muscles so that you can reduce your fracture risk. I did an online fracture risk assessment and it indicated that my risk was not that high even though my numbers are bad. It takes into account other factors that increase or decrease your actual fracture risk.
I'm not sure any of this is much help, but sometimes it's good just to know you're not alone.

Thank you so much, Vanessa! I really appreciate your response and will take your advice. I had a parathyroid adenoma which caused hypercalcimia which led to the severe osteoporosis. That is what happened. All very silently.
