Does Osteo Porosis Affect Your Teeth?

I lost 4 bottom teeth a few years ago and I had to get a partial plate. I thought it was from grinding my teeth at night but could it also be that the gums are weakened from Osteoporosis?

I've had to refrain from taking Alendronic Acid after 4 weeks due to infection in my upper jaw where I need dental treatment. With that sort of medication it is important to have no problem teeth & the medicine can cause crumble jaw bone in rarer cases.
As our teeth sit in bone I assume there will be issues in some cases. I might suspect bone other than gums but best to get an exam from those who can tell you exactly what's happening & whether medicine or behaviours should be altered.
I hope it gets sorted very soon.
P.S. I found giving my teeth a good chlorhexidine rinse held infection back. This may discolour teeth at some strengths?

My dentist told me because of having osteoporosis, that I have lost so much bone mass in my jaw, and it shows on the x-rays they have taken of my mouth over the years. He told me not to bite into apples anymore. He said to cut them up and chew them with my back teeth, because there is a chance of breaking a tooth or pulling one out.

Yes I broke a front tooth ....eating an orange!!! My dentist assured me it was a sound tooth but my osteoporosis had caused it to break.....expensive to fix and a bit worrying Eat carefully

Best guess it’s all connected.

It sure is a possibility, when i had my implants , they had to build up the bone first , but now when i think about it, i only had osteopenia at the time 🤔

20 years or more my bottom teeth were loose. It was a mystery for all. I was able to have them glued together and so far have avoided further work; however now I realize the bone loss in my gums has been extreme. I definitely connect the bone loss to the bone loss.🙂
