So How Fragile Am I?

It's hard to filter and process information. Doctor just hands me an Rx and says, oh you do yoga, that's good. Come back in three months so we can see if the meds are doing any damage to your kidneys.πŸ™„

Members connected over the frustration of feeling dismissed by doctors who provide minimal guidance after an osteoporosis diagnosis, with many expressing the struggle to know what questions to ask or how to advocate for themselves in the moment. Several members emphasized that building a strong care team and practicing self-advocacy are essential to managing the condition and not feeling fragile, with one member sharing how they sat speechless at their diagnosis appointment but are now preparing questions for next time. A recurring theme was the isolation and overwhelm of dealing with multiple health issues at once, met with compassionate encouragement to seek support groups, stay connected, and trust that things can improve.

You need a good care team not to feel fragile as you age.

It does take a good care team! And it seems self-advocacy β€” as in most health care β€” is a key part of managing this thing. I realize I simply sat open-mouthed on the day of the diagnosis. I didn't even know what questions to ask before I was whisked out the door. I am getting ready for them. Next time I will not be so quiet.
