Pain And Osteoporosis
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?

I have been on Prolia for two years; I have edema in my lower legs and feet. I feel it is from Prolia; I just went to a new doctor, and she said no one has ever reported that. As I was leaving, she told me to find that information. So, I am contacting anyone with information on that side effect.

I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.

Has Anyone Heard Of AlgaeCal?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have been diagnosed for a little over 6 months. The pain is getting worse. I really do not want to take the meds the Dr. has prescribed. The side effects seem horrible. (The one the doctor recommended "Calcintonin" can cause cancer. it is a nasal spray. I'm looking for a more holistic approach. I came across an herbal supplement called AlgaeCal. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of/or tried this supplement. It is rather expensive but the testimonials are very positive. I'm wondering if it is… read more

Diagnosed With Osteoporosis
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question đź’

I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

Would Anyone Know How Long Foresto Works In Our System After Completing 2 Year Course Please?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question đź’

I completed my 2 year course of Foreto beginning of May ’19, and had a DXA done in Oct ’19 which showed a disimprovement in scores. Rheumy now wants me to have an Aclasta infusion (Zoledronic Acid) to “keep gains”. I understand that Forteo is an anabolic - affecting osteoclasts and osteoblasts and when we stop taking it we need something to slow down the osteoclasts. My question is around this - how long are the osteoclasts supercharged after stoping Forteo ?

Is It Safe To Be On Prolia For Years?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question đź’

I've been on Prolia for about 5 years. I was told by a Naturopathic doctor that the longer a person is on Prolia, the more likely you will get a fracture in thigh bone that can be devastating. I'm not sure who to listen to. She also said you should take a Prolia holiday for an extended period of time, so the bones don't turn to be porcelain-like. She based this on the latest studies on Prolia. Any thoughts?

During an endoscopy recently I was found to have a large hiatus hernia. That explains my acid reflux and heartburn! I’m now on 30 mg a day of Lanzaprozole which is helping a bit.
