I have been prescribed Fosamax which I haven't started taking yet as I have teeth problems and I read it can be detrimental to have any dental procedures while on this medication. Is this true and what have other poeple experienced.
Ii was prescribed Fosamax several years ago when I had osteopenia, but didn't take it because of side effects. Now that I have osteoporosis, I gave in and stared taking it, reluctantly. Wish there were another alternative.
I’ve heard about loss of bone or death of bone in jaw from many of the osteoporosis meds too. I sure don’t want that fear
I also had a tooth extraction while I was on Prolia and it was very troublesome, failed to heal and very painful I was given two doses of antibiotics and eventually ended up at the dental hospital which put me on stronger antibiotics for a month which worked.I did not take Prolia for a further year.I am now taking Prolia injection twice yearly with no further problems.
I was about to start injections when I decided to do some research, decided not to go that route..
All injections have problems I strongly recommend you do your own research. Good luck
I was on Fosmax but my doctor changed it to Prolia, said research of Fosmax found it was causing bones to become too hard.
