When my doc gave me one more year on it, and if not better going to different type of doc. I was not prepared for what he said( his nurse). With the virus keeping us home I was waiting to talk next appointment. I’m wondering what type of doc he would send me to. Have degenerative disc, two back surgeries. One bone fusion, the other plates and screws.
Hi Maureen. I too am supposed to start a parathyroid stimulator and was anxious to speak to someone that had taken it. Any side effects? I am nervous about trying this. I haven't had any fractures (yet) but I have lost about an inch in height. My doctor said 2 years of parathyroid medication and then Prolia would be the next step. I feel great and am active and in no pain so trying to assess the risk / benefit of medications..
Hello Scracer47. I too am in my 4th year of Prolia injections. I had a huge fracture at age 50. My endocrinologist in Boston told me the oral bisphosphonates were not an option. I started 2 years of daily injection of the Parathyroid stimulator. No fracture for 3 years. Had 1 IV infusion of Reclast and fractured again a year later. Started Prolia with no adverse reaction other than sweating (not a usual side effect.) My MD has told me that some new studies show that people tolerate Prolia well for up to 10 years.
I’ve been having Prolia injections for 4 years with no known side effects & my last BDS showed I’m now back to Osteopenia .
