Cartilage Loss
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have bone on bone in both knees. I’ve been struggling with a lot of pain. I take really strong painkillers and they don’t seem to help at all. I’ve been using laser therapy every day until recently. I stopped the laser therapy because the therapist was not sure if it was helping and I had just received off load braces for both knees. (Thank goodness medical coverage paid for them) so the therapist wanted me to try just using the braces and not the laser to see if there was any less pain. The… read more

Suzy3135, where do you live? It upsets me to know that your doctors are saying you are too young to have knee replacement surgery! That is totally nuts! Loria had knee replacement and she feels fabulous. Change doctors! I would not continue seeing a Doctor Who does not listen to me. You have to stand up for yourself because you are number in your doctors file. Simply a number. Get a new doctor!

Hi Janice. Thanks for your reply. Yes, they all know knee replacement is an absolute in my case. The problem is I am only 58. (I can’t believe I just said ONLY 58). 😁. So, I’m not old enough to have the surgery done. So I have to wonder how long I’m going to have to live with this extreme pain when there is a viable and easy solution to my problem, the drs just wont do it. There is something wrong with a country that allows a person to be in constant pain. We live on a farm and I can no longer do half the work I need to do. I’ve sold of as many animals as I can but there are a few I can’t do that with. I have a 37 year old horse, 7 senior goats and a 16 year old llama. Plus 2 pot belly pigs that got dumped here. I also can’t walk very far so no more walking in the pastures or going to visit my pond. I’m sorry if I seem to be whining but this problem with my knees has taken away almost all of my enjoyment in my life. I’ve had arthroscopy surgery I. Both knees and 2 injections in each knee in an attempt to relieve the pain. I don’t know what I can do anymore to deal with this situation and still try to have an enjoyable life.

I am a very angry that they won’t even consider knee replacement yet. You are right. I’ve got to talk to my dr again. Can’t right now but I’m hoping businesses can open up soon plus I do t know if the thousands of people who were supposed to have surgery before the lock down are going to get their surgery first. I could have a long wait.
