Wondering About Algae Cal
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone heard heard of Algae Cal. I am interested in buying some as it claims to heal bones. I’m only 57 yrs old and am afraid of getting worse with osteoporosis in the lower spine

Reading over your story I felt I had to let you know I was prescribed Alendronate Acid for 5 years and had no side effects as long as you take as prescribed my neighbor and a close friend also no side effects you must take same time however it's prescribed daily or weekly I went from Osteoporosis to
Osteopenia within a 5 year period and Doctor took me off, perhaps you need to give it a try.
GOD BLESS AND GOOD LUCK

I have Algae Cal and want to take it. Can a professional answer the question about whether it really strengthen and builds bones?

I have seen it on Facebook but think it is far too expensive. I live in UK so postage on top Plus the high price makes it prohibitive. I did however read all their reports etc and have pretty much been able to purchase all the required supplements, at pretty much the same levels for a fraction of the price. Under the NHS I can get my prescriptions for free but one of the drugs Alendronic Acid has awful stated common side effects so I have stopped taking it. Also in the UK, I won’t be offered another DEXA scan till I have been taking the meds for 5 years , so I could be putting my health at risk and have no idea if the drugs are doing any good? My GP was very dismissive when I asked for more information. I have never even met my GP, I have only lived at my current house for 2 years and not had any need to visit the doctor. She has no idea of my diet or the fact I had polio as a child. In August last year I tripped over a heavy weight and broke my humerus. Whilst I had noticed a bit of height loss, I have no other symptoms or pains. I am perfectly capable of walking etc. and enjoy several months a year at my holiday home in Spain. I have osteoporosis in my lumbar spine and osteopaenia in my hip, nearly 64 yrs old. I think I have managed to pretty much replicate the AlgaeCal and have even bought Strontium which appears to be the key to bone growth. I am heading back to Spain in 2 weeks time So hope to start my cocktail then. I do believe I have read that there is a blood test that can identify If new bone is being produced So I will be pushing for that. The only change I foresee, is that I may take the NHS calcium +D3 , at no cost to me, and just buy the additional items. Would live to hear how many others have worked their own meds!
