I use AlgeaCal - have been using it for a year. I have osteopenia - and have dexa scheduled for end of May. My issue began with a parathyroid issue - so now that is resolved as of Feb 2019 with surgery tor remove the benign tumor/gland, I am hoping that my bone density has either improved or stabilized. Will post when I find out. As far as performance of AlgaeCal, a friend used this before I started and she did have improved DEXA scans - everyone is different and our beginning point different.

Hi Ladies. I had my DEXA scan yesterday. I am so pleased with my results. I have been using the Algae Cal for about 15 months - on average 3 per day (not 4 as the bottle states as I get calcium from other food sources as well). 3 months ago, I added some additional Vit D with K2 as MK4 and MK7; however, I doubt the addition had such an immediate impact. Short synopsis - my spine density increased 3% and my hips by 6%. I was hoping for stability, but actually saw improvement. My right hip is near normal at -1.1, left hip -1.5 and spine -1.8 (it was -2.0) My dual femur number went from -1.7 to -1.3 - Improvement in every measurement. I do exercise and I do eat salmon at least 2x a week and veggies at every major meal. I was doing weights until Covid closed our gym - but have walked 5 miles every day since the March closing. Hoping to get back to the gym as soon as the drop the crazy restrictions. Lannette, hyperparathyroidism can be rather odd with normal PTH and abnormal blood calcium levels. I really don't know much about that phenomenon, but I have read about it. Seeing that stopping your supplements brought your numbers back to normal, I would have a lot of questions. I agree food is the best source of meeting out dietary needs, but... that is often hard to achieve. There is a hyperparathyroid yahoo group that I can refer you to if you are interested. Let me know.

Lisa, thank you for sharing your thoughts on AlgaeCal.
I began the AlgaeCal and Strontium approximately the same time that you did. I am not due for my next bone density/dexa scan until August of 2021. I figured I will take the AlgaeCal/Strontium AT LEAST until my next dexa scan, and see if it has done anything to improve my bone density.
Like you, I am opposed to the standard osteoporosis drugs which have tons of bad side effects.
Since your dexa scan is coming up this year, I will be very interested, and hope that you post your results.
Best of luck to you!

I've been on Algaecal and Strontium since October. I have no stake in their company. I saw it advertised, asked tons of questions, printed out ingredients and studies for my doctor to read, and he said to try it. I am not about drugs that have so many adverse side effects, so for me, I had to. I was diagnosed with osteoperosis at only 52 (I'm 54 now). My dexa scan is this year, and I'll have been on it about a year by then so I'll see. I'll post results here.

Yes, they like to push you to meds right away - My endocrinologist said it was highly unlikely that I would be able to replace bone density and was pushing for the RX - but... I did succeed without it. My primary care did not push RX meds and suggested I could try a more natural path if I wanted and see in a year post surgery for hyperparathyroidism, if it worked. My scan was a tad delayed due to Covid and no testing available, so it was 15 months (which honestly, was what more the time frame I wanted to wait anyway). As bone loss is gradual (unless there is parathyroid issue), I figured I had nothing to lose. The regular AlgaeCal also has strontium, but at a lower dosage than the bone builder pack. I am using the basic one without the extra strontium. I hope you all have the same experience that I had. I was so excited when I got my results.
