Alendronate is generic brand for Fosmax they both pretty much same thing Fosmax definitely worked for me &my neighbor also, a lot of folks complain about side effects however it's a certain way you should take it,one must read the instruction instructions and follow them percisely, one must take first thing in Morning before you brush your teeth on a completely empty stomach along away from any other medication, afterward can not eat until 30 minutes and above all you can not lay down after you take it or you will get a bad case of acid reflux, this medication is taken same time once a week (if that's how it was prescribed for you,I was on Fosmax for 5 yrs and had improvement, after 5 yrs your Doctor will send you first a Bone Density test which will determine whether you stop or go on taking it ,but I would never stop without confiding in my Doctor one exception if I were having bad side effects now that's another story... I hope this bit of information can really help you God-bless be safe

Being a retired nurse, I read and followed the directions exactly and still had stomach pain. My stomach problem is serious enough that I knew I should stop taking it. I didn't feel the need to tell my doctor until my next visit. Then I will see about Prolia or something. ~ Now, about you ~
I do hope you are feeling a lot better from your asthma, bronchitis, & cough issues ! I was wondering where you'd been ! : ( Take good care of yourself ! ooxx Hugs
@A MyOsteoTeam Member - If you are having stomach issues, Judy, it would seem prudent to at least tell you doctor and determine if you should still take it. ooxx Hugs
Hope you are both doing well today. : )

I have been taking Aledronic Acid plus Caliciferol tablet with Vitamin D for over 12 months and the last Bone Density test shows an improvement in my Lumbar spine and the Endochrinologist at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital said I should continue to take Fonat Plus tablet on Friday morning before food. I do have some stomach issues but Iā€™m going to keep taking it. Judy

I stopped my alendronate after 3 years. It was causing acid reflux. I am now on Prolia. I had my first injection 2 weeks ago.
