My Prolia Injection Is A Month Late Due To Corona Virus Lockdown. How Important Is This?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am 76 and have been on different meds for osteoporosis since age 50. Each was changed after 5 years
I have been on Prolia 4.5 years now, and it has been suggested that 5 years is enough, otherwise one can develop rebound fractures. I tolerate it well, have Dexa scans every 2 years and for the first time this particular med has increased my bone density
I have had no fractures, but have lost nearly 2 inches in height.
Should I take steps to have the injection? Dr says there is no rush.

To wait 7 months instead of six between Prolia injections is ok. Beyond that it is not safe. You put yourself at risk for vertebral fractures. There is a warning from Amgen on the Prolia box.

Not sure, but ny understanding is that being on Prolia is good for aporox 5 yrs, then the Doc switches due to saturation abdcother statistics. You probably wont sufer any major problems if you dont get the shot for several months. Ride this wave of the stay at hone. But
You should call your Primary care doctor. Find out the Professional advice etc. Stay on healthy plant calcium foods. Veges and fruits.
Im not a doctor.
I was a CNA. Ive read up on different types of treatment for Osteop.
Hope this helps you be calmer. You are ok 👌.

Wow ... wish docs out here made house calls:) and on a Harley lol

My doc office refused to give me my vit b 12 shot out side of his office. They are seeing healthy patients. Well that healthy patient may be in the two day period prior to the virus coming on? so in the same office is my doctor for Priola shot. The nurse told me I was due May 18 th but due to the virus he didn' t want me in the office so he moved me to June. I suggested end of July and I may cancel that one if the virus is still active. Same office space both my doc's and I will skip the vitiman shot.

I had a endocrinologist and he was so smart in many areas and blood work consisted of different testing. I suggest go twice a yr just to see if they are of help or not for over all well being.

Praying people will keep wearing masks and gloves / sanitizing and self distancing . If this virus wasn't a killer it would be easier to accept. I miss my grand kids and their parents.

I'd like to go to a store but I'm careful where I go. Walmart is risky and smaller stores but noticed people standing six feet apart with masks waiting to go into Joannn's the other day for fabric. If they would put a limit on how many it would be great.

Blessings
Carole

When going to the pain clinic, I was advised to take bone density drugs for a maximum 7 years, any longer and the bones will get brittle.

@AnneIremonger sorry I can't give you an answer as I haven't been in this predicament with my Prolia injection , on second thoughts I think I would go ahead & have it , only my opinion ! Good luck with what you decide to do !
