What specific exercises help to reverse or prevent osteoporosis from getting worse
Also coffee intake. Is two cups per day(large) too much coffee
Thanks
If you get the chance to borrow or buy, the book "The Whole-Body Approach To Osteoporosis" by Keith McCormick, DC is good. Also "Dr. Lani's No-Nonsense Bone Health Guide by Lani Simpson, DC, CCD is very good and written in laymen's language.
I have been doing weight bearing exercises for over three years now; plus walking every day. But do it with a personal trainer or you can hurt yourself. I've done that too pulling too heavy weights. So far, have avoided taking medications... I also read various things about coffee. Myself, cannot function without two cups, then I go decaf if needed. Loads of water though.
Thank you for your suggestions on books. I have them on kindle.
Bre, I do leg lifts to each side for my hips and I do weighted squats for my hips. I walk an hour a day. There are tons of osteoporosis exercises on the internet if you google "osteoporosis exercises." Also, check out Facebook for OP exercises. Good luck!
Hi Bre, I have just started to do exercises.. not as much as I’d like but what I find I can manage. I have noticed that when people are being cared for they have a walker and are encouraged to walk holding on. So when I take my meds I do 150 steps every time holding on as I can’t walk far, I started this to keep strength in my legs but I find it’s really helping me in other ways.. saying this, my hips been playing up haha.. so not sure if it’s over use or not but I shall try and carry on.. I need to do something. I was given exercises from a rheumatologist consultant, but I’d need to be super woman to do those, just couldn’t manage them on my own. So I made my own up, you have nothing to lose by trying. Good luck. X
