My doctor would like me to take Prolia after my scan which showed a hip score of -2.9. I'm very hesitant though because of the serious side effects, plus the medical office at which I had the scan done is not DEXA accredited. And I've heard that mistakes can be made if the technicians doing the scans aren't properly certified. Does anyone else check the accreditations of the medical facilities performing their scans?
No, I don't know how to check credentials. I have wondered how accurate the technicians are who interpret the scans. However, after a couple of years of scans showing similar results, I assume the… read more
I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?

I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,
