Should I Take Other Treatment?
A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I do not take anything other than calcium and vitamin d. I do not like the side effects listed on the other drugs. Kidney failure is my biggest concern.

I just recently stopped taking Fosamax after only 9 weeks. After doing a lot of research on it I decided to to just try supplements. My doctor is supportive however will have me do another dexa scan in 1 year. I did ask for suggestions on collagen from others on this site but happy to report I did find a collagen that I do like. I currently take D3, K2-MK7, Magnesium, and Collagen Peptides. I'm researching a Calcium supplement but trying to find one that you don't have to take 4-6 tablets a day. I also invested in a weighted vest (after previously stating I would prob be too hot to wear in Texas) and hand weights. So nice to have other women to share ideas with.

AnnieLouise, hello and welcome to this wonderful group!

I'm 100% on board with you on the big pharma drugs! I'm a supplement gal, too. There are several other vitamins and minerals that have been shown to help our bones absorb the calcium we supplement, consider adding the RDA of magnisium, Vitamin K3, and collagen, and a small dose of potassium. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the potassium dosage as too little or too much in your body can affect your heart.

Good luck on your journey! 💚

I have been on fosamax along with what you take. I haven’t had any side effects and I’ve been on it for a few years. I feel that my bones are not as strong as they were. I broke my wrist last year and I hated that.
