A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone had success taking turmeric for joint pain and reducing inflammation? Interesting research on it but not sure what to believe.

Members shared mixed experiences with turmeric for joint pain and inflammation, with many reporting it helped reduce their discomfort, particularly when combined with black pepper and healthy fats to improve absorption. Several members recommended taking curcumin capsules or using fresh grated turmeric root in cooking rather than relying solely on supplements, and some suggested pairing it with omega-3 fish oil, boswellia, or ginger for enhanced anti-inflammatory effects. A recurring theme was that results varied widely among individuals, with some noticing improvement within weeks while others saw little benefit, and a few experienced stomach upset or allergic reactions, leading to advice about being cautious if taking blood thinners or having a sensitive digestive system.

Turmeric is an ingredient in curry powder. It does help inflammation if eaten with black pepper and some oil to help the body absorb it. I buy mine from a local exotic shop. They sell white and orange turmeric. It looks like root ginger but thinner. Or you can buy it ground to a powder. I wouldn't buy it as a supplement, I'd prefer to eat curry, or add a pinch of it into things I'm cooking.

Three wise men took gifts of gold, mhyrr and frankinsense to the baby Jesus. Many people believe that the "gold" was turmeric. xx

Tumeric does slightly thin your blood so if you are taking daily aspirin or blood thinner be careful. I believe it is an anti inflammatory. I know it is suppose to boost the immune system.

I have been using it in something at every meal for about 3 year, after my kidney functions dropped and I was taken off of all pain meds and all
anti-inflammatories. I don't have near the pain, so it must be working.

I’ve heard vets often prescribe Turmeric!
We had a very old dog with arthritis who was given a drug called cartrophin which was amazing as he sure bounced back like a puppy!
Not sure if now being trialled for humans??!!
