I am taking algaecal and belong to their Facebook community. They have a great support system and experts in research that can answer all your health questions. I am hopeful that I will rebuild my bones with all their recommendations and guidance. Yes it is costly but I am willing to sacrifice for quality of life. I will keep this group posted on my progress when I get my next Dexa scan done. :)

Hi LauretteCary, I am also on the AlgaeCal facebook community. I recommend the book "Your Bones" by Lara Pizzorono. I ordered mine from Amazon. You can also read about Lara Pizzorono's story if you google it. I wish I had forgone my prolia shot early October and am determined this will be my last one no matter what the dr. advises. They get a kick-back on every prescription they write and they are probably making a fortune on these drugs that they prescribe for osteoporosis. My opinion anyway. All the best to all. Hugs, Karen P.S. AlgaeCal gives you a letter to print out and take to your doctor. I took it to mine and she was not at all interested in even reading it. What conclusion does this give????

Hi, I have osteoporosis at 64. My doctor was quick to recommend Forteo but side effects are scary. I would also like to go natural and was thinking of Algaecal too. May look into two others mentioned, Alive! And New Chapter Bone Strength. I was also told about Bone Restore from Life Extensions. Wonder which is the best? Algaecal has some convincing videos...

Carole and LindaK, after reading many studies and seeing some folks on here having good results with plant-based calcium, I switched from calcium citrate to red algae calcium a couple of weeks ago. I have not had any side effects, but I've not had a second DEXA scan to see how the two calciums are working.

In doing research, I found two other red algae based calcium products very similar to AlgaeCal at about 1/2 the price. Check out New Chapter Bone Strength and Alive! Calcium for Bones and see what you think of them. I chose the Alive! product and got a good deal through Amazon.

Good luck on your search and I hope you find a product that works great for you! πŸ’š

Not sure about the Algae cal. I read the book β€œwhole Body approach to Osteoporosis β€œ by DR Keith McCormick. It is very good. I even had a consultation with him.
