Members shared experiences with AlgaeCal and similar calcium supplements derived from red algae, with most reporting positive early results though one member had to discontinue due to digestive issues from high magnesium content. Several members mentioned switching to or using alternatives like Alive! Calcium for Bones or New Chapter Bone Strength, often combined with Strontium, as more affordable options that still contain key bone-supporting ingredients like D3, K1, K2, and minerals. A recurring theme was cautious optimism as members await upcoming DEXA scans in May to see if these natural supplements can improve bone density without resorting to medications or injections with concerning side effects.

Apparently it had too much magnesium for my system. I’m now using New Chapter Bone Strength since it also is made with algae, D3,K1, K2, Strontium, silicon, and vanadium, but in lesser amounts. Seems to agree with me a lot better! I’m anxious to know what my next bone/scan will say!!

I’m taking something very similar to Algaecal. Hopefully there’s an improvement with the next DEXA! I just dont want to take any of those meds or injections. The side affects are terrible.

I'm taking it right now. It's only been a couple of weeks. So far, so good!!

Cheer19, I take Alive! Calcium for Bones, it contains calcium derived from red algae just as AlgaeCal does. I switched from calcium citrate to it apx 2-3 weeks ago, no side effects! As for my bone density, I won't know anything until my next DEXA scan in May. Waiting and wondering are stressful! 💚
