Basically no change in scores over the last 20 years! Very active 71 yr old.
Osteonecrosis of the jaw occurs when the jawbone is exposed and begins to starve from a lack of blood. Although the risk for this adverse event is low for all bisphosphonates, it is mostly reported… read more
I've been on Prolia for about 5 years. I was told by a Naturopathic doctor that the longer a person is on Prolia, the more likely you will get a fracture in thigh bone that can be devastating. I'm not sure who to listen to. She also said you should take a Prolia holiday for an extended period of time, so the bones don't turn to be porcelain-like. She based this on the latest studies on Prolia. Any thoughts?
Thank you, CVD. That reply was helpful. Since I’m in the older patient group, I feel more inclined to try the natural approach for now. The PA bone specialist at the doc caring for my arm fx did… read more
I refused bone meds out of fear of side effects and have suffered four vertebral fractures and scoliosis. I am miserable and now my oncologist says they probably can’t be fixed by Kyphoplasty because I have discs involved. But I need an MRI and to see a neurosurgeon. I’ve been in a recliner for seven months and I feel my life is over. Can anyone relate or help me?

During an endoscopy recently I was found to have a large hiatus hernia. That explains my acid reflux and heartburn! I’m now on 30 mg a day of Lanzaprozole which is helping a bit.
How long did it take to feel better? Before it doesn't hurt or I can walk normally? Or exercise? It's been 8 days now.
I am sooo sorry for all you have been through
Sending hugs. Linda
I always thought that the pain in my joints, especially in my hands and knees was just part of aging. Now I don't know if the pain is from osteo or just age
I don’t have any pain from Osteoporosis but have a lot from Osteoarthritis. Also have Osteopenia that can be painful at times.
I have been diagnosed with 2 compression fractures one of T7 and L4 over a year ago, T7 still causes me pain especially when I'm on my feet for extended periods of time and when I perform house cleaning jobs such as vacuuming and mopping floors. I work in retail so I have no alternative but to be on my feet for 7 to 8 hours a day. Everything I've read said they should heal within 6 to 8 weeks but I just dont that is my case. Any feed back is welcome!
Don’t sit for too long without getting up and moving about. Otherwise, I get too stiff to move! Rigor mortis.
Have read that it has a low efficacy. Low percentage of usefulness.
You are right. That drug is only meant for short term use as it weakens the bone over time and causes bone fractures. There are a lot of things natural that strengthen bones. Bone broth is… read more

Has anyone on Prolia experienced a significant increase in their LDL numbers? I have always had high cholesterol and was unable to tolerate statins. My cholesterol numbers increased over and above what was already not good after two months on Prolia. The endocrinologist was surprised at this rapid increase and in his report to my family doctor said, "maybe it is caused by Prolia". I am now on Repatha, (another biologic manufactured by Amgen) to lower my cholesterol. I needed to deal with my… read more
