Members shared reassuring experiences with osteoporosis medications after someone expressed concern about side effects following a fracture, with many reporting no problems taking Alendronic Acid or similar treatments like Risidronate and Zolendronic Acid for years. Several members offered practical tips, including taking the medication on a consistent day each week with a full glass of water while sitting upright, requesting an annual infusion instead if tablets cause stomach issues, and pairing bone-strengthening drugs with calcium and vitamin D supplements. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing others have faced similar diagnoses after falls and fractures, with members emphasizing that these treatments have helped prevent further bone damage and that alternatives exist if one medication doesn't suit.

I can’t take most tablets as they gIve me stomach ulcers. I requested the annual infusion of Zolendronic Acid instead. I’m having the second one next month. The only side effect was feeling very shivery for the rest of that day.

I just started on fosamax. I am 79 yrs old and was diagnosed with a dexascan . My previous scan was 4 years ago and normal. I have pain in my thigh and hip but so far, no fractures. Thank God. Now if I could just get rid of the pain.
