Members who experienced hysterectomies in their 20s, 30s, and 40s shared how early menopause contributed to osteoporosis diagnoses, with many noting additional risk factors including radiation therapy, prednisone use, petite frame, family history, and hyperparathyroidism. Several members described managing their bone health through calcium and vitamin D supplements, medications like Risidronate and Prolia, weight-bearing exercise, and regular DEXA scans, while acknowledging the challenge of balancing treatment benefits against potential side effects. A recurring theme was gratitude for surviving cancer despite the difficult long-term consequences, with members offering each other solidarity around chronic pain, spinal issues, and the reality of living with conditions typically seen in much older individuals.

Thank you Lisa, it’s all challenging, & oft have to remind ourselves to be grateful for all our blessings, and that life is worth fighting for even the little things. Having people who understand exactly the daily struggle, is strangely comforting, although I wish this on no one, 🙏🏻🌻💕
