Dr. says no to me but I wear one anyway sometimes even for a little while. I wear a brace at my waist when I know I need to walk or do something a bit strenuous. That support helps to give me a little more strength to straighten my back and brace against sudden moves or bumps.

No have never been offered one! I did have a medical corset when I injured my lumbar spine back in 1970. I only tried it for half an hour and threw it in the corner. I couldn’t even drink a cup of tea when wearing it!

Miriam, I read on here a while back that braces aren't recommended. I'm not sure, but I think it said your bones aren't held firm. Perhaps someone with more knowledge could explain this.
