I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?
i'm not sure what type of osteoporisis I have. Type 1 or Type 2? I was diagnosed with osteoporsis when i was about 54 years old post menopausal.

I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.

There are some research articles on sites such as PubMed et al that address possible links between osteoporosis and macular degeneration, as well as the taking of biophosphonates for osteoporosis and macular degeneration. Since my diagnosis, I have had loose teeth and I have lost some teeth. Does this have to do with osteoporosis or is it something else>

I have Osteoporosis, do I still need to get Dexa scans done? Or once your diagnosed with osteoporosis, then you don't need any more Dexa scans ?
Thank you
You should have quite regular scan I was told by past doctors but the one I have now says no.
My mother was dying of kidney failure as well as heart failure and was left unconscious from a stroke. Her bones broke very easily, and nurses had to be careful turning her. I was told at the time that she had osteomalacia, but she had compression fractures before, and I thought she had osteoporosis then.
